Thomas H. Sarc
Treat your students to an unforgettable School OR Library visit with children’s author and award winning poet Thomas Sarc!
Mr. Sarc's school and library programs, generally for Kindergarten to 3rd grade, touch on story development, research techniques and/or any combination of these topics as he takes students through two of his titles (My Dog's World & Dusty's Bad Hair Day) from idea to publication. This may sound too advanced for these grade levels BUT the program is tailored TO the grade.
Mr. Sarc uses copies of his books, photos, hand-outs and, if equipment is available, a laptop video presentation. He discusses the pets in his book (his real-life dogs) and how he came up with the ideas for the books...photographing...illustratior...etc.
He encourages an interactive presentation - where students are asked to present their questions, comments, suggestions, ideas...
All program content has been loaded onto a flash drive and adapted to LCD presnetation provided equipment is available. This will be discussed prior to the visit. If no equipment is available (for projection) this will not hinder the presentation.
The approximate time for each session is 45-60 minutes including questions and answers. All students will receive bookmarks and/or photos of book characters!
Equipment needs (if available): Table, microphone (if a large audience), LCD projector with cables to connect to Mr. Sarc's computer, screen (If your organization has a computer connected to a projector, thats even better).
Mr. Sarc is booking schools, libraries and other organizations for the 2014 year. Because school budgets are tight, Mr. Sarc tries to keep his fees affordable - yet practical. Accordingly, his fee is $700 for a full day.* Half day visits are $400.*
What does a full day get you? A full day gets you up to 4 (four) sessions and up to 30 students per session.
Whad does a half day get you? A half day gets you up to 2 (two) sessions and up to 30 students per session.
* NOTE: These fees are for Suffolk County and Nassau County on Long Island. Contact the author for out-of-the area (including out of state) fees.
